The higher we soar, the smaller we appear to those who cannot fly. This might only be a maxim for people like V Tulasidas, Chairman and Managing Director, Air India whose towering personality has left an indelible trail on the Indian sky. Tulsidas might not be a poetic genius as his legendary namesake but he
certainly is a man of genius who has made Maharaja of Indian aviation relives his regal life. India's flagship international carrier, under Tulsidas's charismatic personality, has lately received a shot in the arm.
At a time when private Airlines are fighting against each other in a cut-throat competitive world, Tulsidas has successfully provided an anchor to Air India by introducing ingenious policies. Making the best use of open sky policies he has been able to successfully take off profitable ventures for Air India. To make the state-run Airline compete with other Airlines, Tulasidas recently announced an increase Air India's fleet strength from 30 to 60 aircraft within two years. Under his mastery eye, Air India also decided to start a direct flight from Kolkata to London via Dhaka. |
| Initially, three flights a week the
frequency is expected to go up to control greater passenger traffic on the route.
A man who believes in writing success on wings of Air India and flying all over the world, Tulsidas plans to take Air India to new tourist destinations too. He has already envisaged new flight between Toronto -Birmingham-Amritsar from this year. A man known for his single-mind devotion to his work, Tulsidas was also instrumental in giving a fillip to Air India's Express concept as the first budget airline for Indian
middle class.
Not only this, Tulsidas also plans to bring Australia and Mauritius into its network. It's said that work and experience never goes wasted. The idealism, however finds a better manifestation in Tulsidas, who over the years have taught himself to find new opportunities where few dares to venture. Under his stewardship Air India made another landmark decision to double the number of its flights from
Bahrain to Trivandrum. Currently, the airline operates two flights to Trivandrum on Sundays and Wednesdays. With Tulsidas at the command of Air India, the government-run carrier could very well aim for moon on the wings of hard work and innovative marketing strategies. |
