Today, NLC is credited with managing the country's biggest open-cast mechanised Lignite mining with a capacity of 24 million tonnes and power generating with installed capacity of 2490 MW of power. It's, therefore, no wonder that as a result of Jayaraman and his predecessor's unswerving dedication, the three Thermal Power Stations of Neyveli Lignite Corporation Ltd., viz Thermal Power Station-I, Thermal Power Station-I Expansion and Thermal Power Station-II were awarded the ISO certification for quality and environmental management systems.

In fact, Jayaraman has been instrumental in bringing cost effectiveness, competitiveness and profitability to the NLC. With the core competence in lignite excavation and power generation using excavated lignite, the NLC, under Jayaraman's stewardship has received a momentum in selling its raw lignite to small-scale industries, thereby adding to company's coffer. Employing more than 18,786 highly skilled professionals, NLC under the leadership of Jayaraman is planning to set up a mine-cum-power plant at Barsingsar, Rajasthan, which is already at an advanced stage.

The proposed mine is expected to have a capacity of 2.1 MTPA and the power plant of 250 MW. Not only this, India's largest listed integrated power generation company, NLC also has a 129,200 TPA urea plant and a 262,000 TPA briquetting and carbonisation plant, which have shown considerable growth during the recent years. But as it's said behind every success there is toil and hard work of a man with a vision, Jayaraman, in this case, is surely the man behind the mission.
