The greatest ability in business is to get along with others and to influence their actions. And certainly, it isn't an easy task, especially when it comes to influencing others' action. Nonetheless, Rupendra Singh, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of KPMG's India operations has been doing the same and that too with aplomb. For, Singh has numerous prestigious business houses and valuable clients up his sleeves, which he has helped benefit. A man known for his expertise in assurance-related services, business advisory, financial investigations in the manufacturing and service industries, Singh has carved a niche for himself and the KPMG.

In fact, Singh was among the three men named in 2003 to head KPMG's operations in India, in view of his exemplary contribution. A graduate from Delhi University, who also studied at Cathedral and John Connon High School, Mumbai, Singh, is a qualified chartered accountant. After acquiring the prestigious degree in 1974 from the Institute of Chartered Accountants, England and Wales, Singh in fact, hasn't looked back since then. He was later trained as a chartered accountant in the London office of a Big Four firm and worked for a number of years in London. On returning to India, Rupendra worked in the industry for two years and then joined a competing accounting firm in Delhi.

 

A man who believes in hark work, consistency and operating in sync with team towards a common goal, Singh garnered varied experience during 30 years of his career. Singh, who joined KPMG in 1994 and has been responsible for establishing KPMG Forensic in India, has successfully steered the company's destiny towards greater profitability and transparency.   In fact, Singh has added value to KPMG's wide range of services, which includes audit, tax and advisory services to over 2,000 international and national clients.

The company today has offices in India in Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad and Kolkata and is fast expanding its operations to other cities. Its firms in India have access to more than 900 Indian and expatriate professionals, many of whom are internationally trained. Singh who was head of KPMG's assurance practice in India, prior to becoming COO, has satisfactorily and efficiently been delivering value to his clients by focusing on internal processes. An accomplished golf player who has many titles to his credit, Singh is an invaluable asset, whom KPMG has always kept close to its heart.
