Indian telecom market is buzzing. And all global giants have heard sweet ring tones from Indian markets. Also, the text messages are clear-the government is firmly committed to go ahead with a liberalised regime in Indian telecom. Motorola too spotted the opportunity but the call was to get the right person at the helms. They looked for someone best in the industry and finally zeroed in on Parmindra Kwatra.

(and general manager of GTSS in the Asia Pacific region, while announcing Kwatra's appointment country head, director and general manager for Motorola India's telecom infrastructure business (Global Telecom Solutions Sector) in July, 2004.

 

Currently based at Motorola's India headquarters in Gurgaon, Kwatra is one person every telecom company would love to have in its ranks. Holder of a bachelor's degree in engineering and an MBA, Kwatra is also a fellow of the Institution of Electronics and Telecom Engineers (FIETE). Kwarta has also attended senior management programmes at the AT&T School of Business, Siemens-IMI, Lausanne University and the Siemens-Fuqua School of Business, USA on leadership, strategic management and financial discipline.

He is widely known in the industry for developing business, team building, expertise in enhancing sales, and developing and nurturing young talent. Kwatra began his career with the Tata Group and then moved on to BPL. He later worked as the marketing director for AT&T's wireless business. Prior to joining Motorola, he served as vice-president and head of sales, for the Mobile Networks business (India and southeast Asia) at Siemens India. With a hefty 20-year experience in the telecom industry behind him, Kwatra can sure help Motorola, which has established significant position in both GSM and CDMA technologies, to dream big in India.
