A visionary, N. Srinivasan has been steering the India Cements Limited as the Vice Chairman and Managing Director on the path of consistent growth, thereby paying its stakeholders higher returns. A man with a solid will and never to say die attitude, Srinivasan learnt the precious lesson of entrepreneurship from his father T. S. Narayanaswami, an industrialist to the backbone.

In fact, it was Narayanaswami who laid the foundation of an industrial map in Tamil Nadu and founded the India Cements Ltd, the mantle of which later fell on his son Srinivasan, who has religiously followed the path shown by his father.

A post graduation in Chemical Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology, US, Srinivasan's education helped him a lot in shaping up his corporate profile. An agile industrialist, Srinivasan has successfully cemented the foundation of India Cements Limited.

Thanks to Srinivasan's pragmatic and visionary approach, India Cements Ltd today has emerged as the major corporate entity in South India with a turnover of around Rs.1,200 crore, which later expanded itself to sugar, trading and finance.

Shankar's impeccable nature and charming personality have made him the President of the Cement Manufacturers' Association for three terms (1991-94) and Chairman of the Board of Governors of the National Council for Cement and Building Materials (NCBM) for two terms (1991-93). He has also been the Sheriff of Madras for two terms from 1989 to 91. Over the last decade, Srinivasan also chaired the Development Council for Cement Industry (DCCI) constituted by the Government of India for two terms (1992-96).

As the President of The Madras Chamber of Commerce and Industry for two terms from 1996 to 1998, Srinivasan, infused fresh blood into the organization and was adored for his leadership qualities. He has also been the President of the All India Organisation of Employers. Presently, he is serving as the President of Cement Manufacturers' Association (CMA), and the Chairman of the Board of Governors of the National Council for Cement and Building Materials (NCBM), and Chairman of Development Council for Cement Industry (DCCI) constituted by the Government of India.

An avid golfer and an ardent cricket lover, Shankar's prestigious positions in numerous organizations are a testimony of his infallible leadership and the respect he commands in the Indian corporate world.
