Motivation is everything. You can do the work of two people, but you can't be two people. Instead, you have to inspire the person down the line and get him to inspire his people. And Mats Granryd, Country head, Ericsson India has been doing precisely the same - inspiring his men and getting the best out of them. Appointed in August 2005, Granryd is the man in action, heading Ericsson's operations in India and Sri Lanka. A veteran in the telecommunication industry with over 15 years of experience, Granryd has held senior management positions with world-leading corporations, such as Anderson Consulting, Arrigo Consultants and Telia Mobile.

Known as a master, capable of managing rapidly growing companies, Granryd was born in Nacka, Sweden in 1962 and later went to do his graduation and Master of Science from the Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, Sweden. Always keen to take up challenging assignment Granryd worked as a consultant and partner for Arrigo Consulting from 1991 to 1995. Prior to that he worked as a consultant with Andersen Consulting. It was only in 1995 that Granryd joined Ericsson as production manager at the company's Nynäshamn factory in Sweden and since then he hasn't looked back.

In fact, it was while working as Key Account Manager with Telia Mobile between 1998 and 2000 and later as the vice-president and unit manager for Ericsson's Mobile Business Solutions that Granryd gathered rich experience in telecommunication. And while holding the post of President of Market Unit Northern Africa and Country Manager of Egypt, Granryd further perfected the art of augmenting the company's profitability. Prior to taking up the twin posts of head of market unit for India and Sri Lanka and Managing Director of Ericsson India, Granryd was the president of Ericsson's CDMA Business Unit in San Diego, USA.

Understandably, his new posting has added another feather to his cap. Known for his thorough understanding of the telecommunication market, Mats will now be responsible for company's overall operations in India and Sri Lanka and also for maintaining and strengthening Ericsson's leadership position. Granryd will lead Ericsson's efforts to provide mobile and broadband Internet communications to the growing Indian telecom market. Not to forget that he will also be creating a winning team focused on supporting operators in the region. With the appointment of Granryd, who brings with him a wealth of commercial and managerial experience, Ericsson has reinforced it commitment to the growing Indian markets and seems all set to reap the rich harvest.
