| Immediately after taking over as the new Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD) of the Oriental Insurance Company Ltd (OICL), Ramadoss had shed stereotype images of insurance companies in the new scenario of globalisation. His vision is to make the Oriental Insurance Company Ltd a 'demanding employer and more customer-friendly.' The tough taskmaster has taken up the agenda of preventing an erosion of profitability and falling premiums of the OICL. He knows it's a tough phase when customers are being lured by private sector insurance companies. He is firm to bring the public sector insurers back.
His goal is to make OICL the 'one-stop-shop' for all insurance requirements of the customers. Sending a strong message down the hierarchy, he has made it amply clear that wage increases could no longer be assumed as in the past. They were also advised by this tough taskmaster to focus only on profits instead of chasing volumes. In fact, the private sector has been poaching on these categories of customers along with the PSU employees. "Wage revisions and promotions have to be earned by performance, and not assumed to be periodical exercises" is his crystal clear message to his employees. |
