After his graduation from Waseda University, he joined Canon in 1978 as part of a management team for production control and budget, for copiers. Following several senior management positions in Japan, Australia and 7 years in United States, he was appointed the Managing Director of Canon Marketing (Singapore) in 2001, responsible for the overall management of domestic sales and marketing operations. He is familiar with operations in South and South East Asia.

Prior to his current appointment, Konishi was President and Chief Executive Officer of Canon Hong Kong Company Ltd., responsible for the strategic management and direction of Canon's operations in Hong Kong. With his devotion to improve the operation level of the company, Canon Hong Kong achieved the international award for quality, environmental awareness, health and safety management system and customer service. During Konishi's tenure, he led Canon Hong Kong through years of growth, including a successful 2006 whereby the company registered an impressive HK $2 billion sales, a 72% increase as compared with 2003.

Be it photocopiers, fax-machines, printers, multi-functional peripherals, scanners, digital cameras and multi media projectors, Konishi has left his mark on Canon's every product. He has built up an image for Canon, which few can think of matching, leave alone excelling. To top it all, he did somersaults, with aplomb at a time when market was flushed with products from innumerable brands.

The company today has offices in 7 cities across India and employs over 400 people. Creating an industry benchmark with new technologies in the latest product range the company launched 87 new products in 2006 including the launch of 51 products on a single day which is an industry landmark for the largest number of products launched in a single day.
