"Nature represents for me movement, fulfillment, warmth, introspection, mellowness, harmony, exuberance, a celebration of life, indeed the very joie de vivre. I paint simple objects of nature and strive to portray the luminosity and the stillness of the stopped moment.”

… Jyoti Nagpal

Jyoti whose website www.jyotiart.com, describes her as, ‘Jyoti, the artist of light’, lives up to her name. She exudes light through her form of art. Her paintings celebrate the different moods of nature.

Managing Director & CEO of Wellogic ME Free Zone LC, Jyoti is a successful IT entrepreneur, who divides her time equally between industry and Art.

Educated in USA, France and India, Jyoti completed her graduate studies in romance languages majoring in French literature, culture and civilization from Boston College, Massachusetts. Jyoti has been a keen student of French language, literature and culture. She taught French for more than twenty years in Chandigarh, Kashmir and Delhi.

Inspired by the Nineteenth and Twentieth Century Impressionists, Jyoti chose the medium of oil painting and mastered the difficult technique of “wet on wet” to express her fascination with nature. In this endower, Jyoti has brilliantly broken away from the conventional rules and restrictions of traditional oil painting while, at the same time, remaining faithful to nature. She infuses her work with a brilliance so that the canvas seems to glow from within. Her paintings are a visual essay, depicting the glory of nature, and the spirit of joy and freedom that every living being is born with. There is a unique charm and beauty about her work which mesmerizes everybody with its impact at her perfect communion with nature. The inner peace is translated into her work that radiates tranquility outside. For her, “A painting, like a poem, is the expression of an idea in a condensed form. It offers a different interpretation to different individuals and is a unique experience for the artist and the viewer alike”.

For Jyoti, the enormity and splendor of nature have held a special fascination since her childhood. She continued to paint nature even at a time when it was not considered ‘fashionable’ to paint landscapes. While inaugurating her first solo exhibition of paintings, H.E. K. R. Narayanan, the then President of India, commented, “Jyoti’s paintings combine nature with imagination and insight into the beauty and mystery of nature. As a landscape artist, she could also be an environmentalist.”

Widely traveled in Europe, North America, Africa, South East Asia and the Middle East, Jyoti continued to draw her inspiration from the ‘inexhaustible’ source of nature in its myriad forms, tirelessly experimenting with her technique of ‘wet on wet’. In her words, “beauty of nature has a universal appeal because it is simple and direct in its expression”.

While living in the U.A.E. with her husband, the renowned Dr. Ajit K. Nagpal, Jyoti secured a respected niche for herself in the art world through her passionate, vivacious and joyful work. Whenever her exhibitions were on, busfuls of school children would arrive at the exhibition venue to walk past, admire and draw inspiration from her work to enjoy and respect the living environment. So much so that her work was acknowledged by none other that the President of UAE, the late Sheikh Zayed. Jyoti has also been honored for her prolific work by the NRI Welfare Society of India.
