If you want to achieve unusual feats, take action before others can think. And Ian Gomes, Managing Director, KPMG, India is one such man who has taken initiatives to achieve his targets. Always full of action and brimming with ideas, Gomes is known for making his co-workers equally proactive and including them in the larger interest of the company. He believes that an action is good when it benefits most, including colleagues and clients and certainly his actions have been speaking for him. A fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, Gomes's career profile is impressive and stands out amidst others.
Gomes, who was admitted to the membership of the institute in 1982, joined KPMG's London office in 1983. He has grown with time and experience. For it didn't take him long when he was invited to join the UK KPMG partnership In 1992. Later, he was transferred to the Lower Gulf firm for three years and was an active member in the setting up of KPMG's operations in India in 1993. And all along his various postings, Gomes's performance was become an example for others to emulate. It was in recognition of his work that later he was recalled to the London office in 1995 and held number of key managerial posts. |

| A known name in the financial sector, Gomes' extensive experience and in depth understanding of the industry has stood him in a good stead. He is known to have given his services and expertise to numerous business houses with remarkable results, both in the UK and in the Middle East. Gomes, while taking up his new India assignment, said that the firm is committed to retaining its competitive edge by continuing to build and maintain a strong advisory practice in the areas of outsourcing, pharmaceuticals, media and entertainment and infrastructure.
And Gomes, through his unswerving dedication and hard work, has come out with flying colours in achieving his targets. It was under Gomes that KPMG India, in association with the foreign ministry, hosted the first ever investment-related Indian roadshow in Japan in 2003. The Indian embassy in Japan and the Japanese Institute for Overseas Investment Association also joined hands in the endeavour to increase cross-border investments between the two countries. And with Gomes leading the KPMG's show, the Brand India is sure to grow and prosper in days to come. |
