In order to excel there must be a dynamic force, and what force could be more potent than unwavering dedication to one's work. Sure, it's precisely this attribute that has made Dr. Rami Ranger, CEO of Sea Air & Land Forwarding and Sunoco (formerly known as Sun Oil) one of the most enterprising and upcoming NRI entrepreneurs in the United Kingdom. But more than anything it's Ranger's integrity, which has found him many an admirer. Not surprisingly, his honesty extends even to his business. He is learnt to have said once, "Our business philosophy is - we don't succeed if our customers do not succeed." And true to his words, he has always strived to keep his customers happy and assured when it comes to quality and timely delivery of the goods and services.

Dr. Ranger was born in 1947 to a Sikh family in Gujranwala in present day Pakistan. He was the youngest of eight children. His father, Shaheed Nanak Singh, was a prominent leader in Multan and campaigned against the partition of India. After graduating from Punjab University in 1971 Dr. Ranger arrived in the UK where he worked in the fast food industry and an early business venture. It was in 1987 that he started his company Sea Air and Land from a shed with a capital of just £2! Three years later, he started Sun Oil. The new company that Ranger started soon earned a tremendous goodwill amongst its international customers.

It provides and distributes famous supermarket products all over the world. Besides representing top MNCs such as Unilever, Nestle, Mcvities, Beechams, Mars and Cadburys in certain markets, Sun Oil under Ranger diversified into other products like Laser, Pure Heaven, Golden Country, Comfi, Royalty and English Breeze. It was the untiring efforts of Ranger that Sun Oil earned for itself the prestigious Queen's Award for Export Achievement and Dr. Ranger himself was bestowed with the Asian Achiever Award. In 2005, he was made a Member of the British Empire (MBE) for his services to business and to the British Asian community. Besides running his hugely successful businesses, Dr. Ranger is also involved in a host of social and political activities.

He is the general secretary of the British Asian Conservative Link and director general of the Parliamentary Friends of India. A staunch proponent of Asian participation in public life, Ranger has made spectacular contribution to the uplift of Asians in the UK. In fact, Ranger's multi-faceted personality helped him assume responsibilities of various philanthropic bodies. No wonder, he is a joint secretary of the Nargis Dutt Research and Relief Society, a trustee of India Development Trust, Patron of Preston University, and Executive Member of the International Punjabi Society and the list goes on. For a man so diverse in action and talent, there is no stopping this NRI from scaling greater heights of success.
