Life is not over because you have diabetes. Make the most of what you have. Dr. Anil Kapur, Managing Director, Novo Nordisk has been giving hopes to millions of diabetic throughout the world. For Kapur knows, there is no medicine like hope, no incentive so great, and no tonic so powerful as something that betters tomorrow. A man who is passionate about improving the lives of sick and poor, Kapur has also proved his mettle as a successful business professional. For he has helped the global insulin major leapfrog its turnover from virtually nothing to a whopping Rs.100 crore in India.
Kapur, who is also the Vice President of the Danish pharmaceutical major, over the years has steered the course of the company to a greater profitability, respectability and has also given the company a new conscience. A world leader in insulin and diabetic care products, Novo Nordisk also manufactures and markets a number of other pharmaceutical products and bio-industrial products. And the reason for its doing so well in India has been certainly Kapur, who carried out his duties with a missionary zeal. So, how did he turn Novo Nordisk India into such a big success story? He will tell you, it's simple-hard work, common sense and a persistent effort towards achieving the goal.
For, there is no shortcut to laurels and achievements. Always conscious of his social responsibility, Kapur has been instrumental in initiating several development programmes and public awareness campaigns. He has presented numerous lectures on diabetes, both in India and abroad for Novo Nordisk Education Foundation, of which he is an active member. Author of more than 90 papers in the areas of internal medicine, clinical pharmacology and endocrinology and treating diabetes, for Kapur his profession is much more than a business proposition.
A man who has given decades of his valuable life to finding a cure and solution to diabetic, it was in recognition for his untiring effort that he was awarded Denmark's most prestigious medal and diploma for extraordinary achievement in 2000. And when it comes to expanding the business of Novo, Kapur always remains bullish. "I guess, we have the potential to grow five times over in the Indian market," he said once. And with his kind of potential and hard work, the pharma pundits know, nothing is difficult for Kapur to achieve. For, he is the man who knows the right formula of the right prescription. |
