A first look at Arvind Mathew, and you cannot miss the exuberance in his face. Highly spirited, as Managing Director and President, Ford India would be seeing many success stories written. Mathew is a post-graduate in Mechanical Engineering and has an MBA from the University of Michigan. He has been with Ford Motor Company since 1990 when he joined it as a Business Planning Analyst. He has held a range of engineering, product planning and new product implementation positions in North America, Germany, Spain, Turkey and the UK before coming to Ford India in May 2003. He was previously handling the responsibilities as the Vice-President for manufacturing and supply at Ford India. He is also credited with playing a major role in development of new vehicle and power train programmes for India. Additionally, Mathew played a lead role in building a robust supplier base for localisation programs in India and also in promoting export from the country.

He has held a range of engineering, product planning, and new product implementation positions in North America, Germany, Spain, Turkey, and the U.K., and has worked on Ford and Mazda vehicle programs. With his plethora of knowledge and skill, Mathew is indeed one of the most cherished members of the Ford Motors Family. His discerning leadership comes as a blessing at a time like this when Ford is also due to launch a brand new sedan model soon, which would make its first appearance in India. India will be the first market for the launch of this vehicle. If we get the product right for India, it will work right in a few other markets around the world. Talking about the new model coming from the American Auto Giant, he says "It will be an all new premium vehicle designed by international experts, supported by Indian engineers. The new vehicle has been tested in India and in several other countries in the world.

"While Ford Motors is trying to expand their operations in the other countries, India remains its top priority. Mathew has planned investments worth $75 million (around Rs.330 crores) for expanding operations in the Indian market. He says, "To support the aggressive growth strategy, Ford India will be augmenting its subscribed capital. Ford India has received approval from Ford Motor Company for an additional equity infusion of $75 million to meet the needs of our future plans."

The company currently has their plans operational near Chennai. Ford has already made investments worth around $375 million in India so far. They started in a joint venture with Mahindra and Mahindra and became a fully owned subsidiary in 2005. The company currently sells four models in India, which includes the Ford Ikon, Ford Endeavour, Ford Mondeo, and Ford Fusion. Ford Fiesta is the first model from the company in India. With India as one of the fastest growing automobile markets in the world, Mathew is well prepared with his aggressive growth plans for the country. Mathew is driving Ford on the highway to success.
