Accomplishment springs from sheer hard work and an effective and flawless strategy which are the sine qua none for achieving success in today's competitive corporate world. A. Vellayan, Chairman, EID Parryware has all these attributes rolled in one. A man of firm action and great vision, Vellayan earned his higher education abroad before joining the corporate world of fame and glory.
With a diploma in Industrial Administration from Aston University, Birmingham, UK and Masters in Business Studies from the University of Warwick Business School, UK, this tycoon has had industrial experience of about over 26 commendable years.
In fact, Vellayan joined the Board of EID way back in November 1999 and he also happens to be a whole time Director of Coromandel Fertilisers Limited. Not only this, he has been in the Boards of several reputed companies. He is also the Chairman of Southern Region of Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Southern Regional Chairman of Federation of Indian Export Organisation.
With a clear sight to the future, Vellayan looks at things from a global perspective and also infuses the same spirit among his staff. A man who believes in going the extra miles, Vellayan also believes in conventionalism. At a time when the corporate world is inching towards core production, this visionary is rooted more into tradition. In fact, he can feel the pulse of his customers and that is precisely why he is still running the diversified company.
Established in the year 1788, Parryware is presently engaged in a wide galaxy of diversified activities. It became a member of the Murugappa group in the year 1981 and thereafter the story has been one of changes and of consistent growth. Thanks to Vellayan's dexterity, today, EID Parryware has evolved into one of the largest business groups in the country, engaged in the manufacture and marketing of a wide-range of products. Vellayan has also helped the company set up India's first chemical fertiliser plant - at Ennore, Sugar plant - at Nellikuppam and Sanitaryware plant - at Ranipet. This year, EID Parry (India) Ltd and Cargill International SA plan to enter into a joint venture to set up a port-based stand-alone sugar refinery in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh. The investment was estimated at Rs. 325 crore and the plant is expected to be commissioned by December 2007.
A man who has a strong sense of commitment and adherence to business ethics, Vellayan has injected fresh blood in to the group. Vellayan has also helped EID Parryware succeed in bringing to life the larger picture and to 'Go Beyond' in all their ventures. Vellayan has made Parryware India's largest exporter of Sanitaryware, and the contribution is duly recognized by conferring upon it the "Certificate of Merit" for excellence in export performance from Chemicals and Allied Products Export Promotion Council for 2000-01 and 2001-02.
